I give this 5 stars because I know how hard everyone involved with this course works to make a diamond out of coal. Joe and everybody at The Classic are great people! It's too bad the ownership turns a blind eye to upgrades, but for what it's worth, The Classic is a great test of your game. Perfect greens and tough putts will challenge the flat stick. Well manicured fairways reward those keeping the ball in play off the tee. Uneven lies and bunkering test approach shots. All in all, if you learn to golf well here, you can take that game to any course in the country. Also, if you golf often, the RMG unlimited pass is one of the best deals around.

The course itself is pretty fun. There are 3 holes I could do without, though. The landing zones for those 3 holes are close to impossible to hit even for a decent ball striker as myself. Course knowledge is a must for this course, especially these 3 holes in speak of. 18 being kind of annoying. I hit a perfect 3 iron straight down the middle, only to find I was completely blocked out by a large tree. But again, this is course knowledge issue. The greens are probably the most unique greens I've ever played on. The shape of the greens is very quirky and difficult, and small but I actually like it a lot. No range. Hitting into a net, which is kinda lame, but I get it with the new 18th hole, you have to walk towards the range. So I get closing it off for players coming off 18 walking back to the cars would be in the line of fire. The Proshop/Restaurant was extremely disappointing. Granted, they said they're getting a new proshop. The "restaurant" was very disappointing... The Barqs root beer I ordered was expired by a year, and the chips were going to expire in 13 days... The chicken bacon ranch wrap was disappointing, and I'm pretty sure I'll probably get sick from and we ordered turkey sandwich at the turn was very boring. Just eat before or bring your own food...

About 15-20 minutes from Lake Spanaway Golf Course, we played here in the afternoon after playing Lake Spanaway that morning. This course was in pretty good shape. Some tee boxes were slightly choppy. The narrow fairways were nice & the elevated greens were dry and fast. Some trees and hazards, but not many. It felt like the course was compacted onto a property that was just big enough for a course, as many holes run back to back with little space between fairways. We got turned around on the cart path once or twice, but hey, it was our first time there. Other golfers here were very friendly and helpful. 18th hole is under construction and on an alternate-green. Great course, definitely worth a play if you haven't been here before. We'll be back first chance we get!

Interesting layout and design but is way overpriced for the course conditions. $72 to play with a cart. The real deal breaker for me was they don’t have a range

I don't golf so this review is from a passenger riding along. I was greeted by a very nice man named Joe in the pro shop. He quickly got everything set up and paid for. I could smell food coming from the restaurant nearby so I went and checked it out. I ordered chicken strips and french fries, which were very good and cooked perfectly. The golf course itself is very nice and beautiful as it seems to be well maintained. I observed lots of wildlife while there. This includes the crows, that you need to watch out for. I left my carton of food on the seat of the cart while I was using the restroom. When I returned half of the fries and one strip was missing! I watched it flying away with fries in his beak. So lesson learned... don't leave anything unattended because you maybe robbed.

Simply terrible course conditions. Dead fairways. Bunkers, with rocks, are not raked or edged. No driving range. 18th hole is gone due to new houses. This course used to be so nice, well designed, and in amazing condtion… so sad to see it now. Must be poor ownership & greens supt

Been going there for years now- Course is in great shape as always and the new 18th Hole is amazing! 90 degree dog leg Par 4! Can't wait to go back soon! Squirrel on the course stole a Peanut M&M from our cart and went to town on it!

No driving range. Both the putting & chipping green had ant nests everywhere. I had to put through an ant hill. Surrounding grounds look unkept, lots of overgrown grass and weeds. From the looks of it the course appears to be struggling financially. And i might be right because from what i can tell in google maps. Appears they sold off the property which used to be the 18th hole to housing builders. Which is currently still building homes. They removed the old driving range to alter and accommodate a new 18th Hole. The new 18th hole is literally the only fairway shaped like a 90degree "L". And hence the reason there is no driving range, which is the bread and butter of a golf course.
